Spencer County Community;
We are committed to ensuring that our district communication systems are a point of pride. Our goal is to ensure that families and our community receive timely and accurate information, especially during emergencies, which is one of our top priorities.
Today, we are conducting a comprehensive test of our communication systems, which includes phone calls, text messages, emails, and app notifications. This test will help us verify that our systems are functioning correctly and that your contact information is accurate and up to date.
To help us ensure a seamless communication experience for everyone, we kindly ask that you take a few moments to do the following:
Update Your Information: Whenever you change your phone number or email address, please call your child's school or the district office to have your contact information updated. We can't reach you if our records aren't accurate!
Keep Your SC Schools App Updated: Please make sure the SC Schools app is installed and regularly UPDATED on your device and that notifications are turned ON. This is one of the fastest ways we will communicate important information.
Let Us Know If You Didn't Receive It: If you did not receive this message as a phone call, text, email, and app notification, please let us know so we can help resolve the issue for you. You can contact Mr. Cameron Chesser: cameron.chesser@spencer.kyschools.us or Ms. Patti Lancaster: patti.lancaster@spencer.kyschools.us. They will be happy to correct any problem!
We will be sending our inclement weather plan around soon after Thanksgiving break. Have a safe and restful weekend!
Best,
Dr. Willie Foster,
Superintendent

We are dealing with a Water Main break on Highway 44 that has affected both SCES and SCMS. Unfortunately, the repair may be prolonged and we donโt feel that having school for a full day is possible. As a result, we will be dismissing early today, Tuesday, October 21, 2025.
We will release at the following times:
Spencer County High School, Hillview Academy, and Spencer County Middle School will release at 1:00 PM
Spencer County Elementary School, Taylorsville Elementary School, and Preschool will release at 2:15 PM.
All after school programs at SCES and SCMS will be cancelled.
Please know this is a last resort and we apologize for any inconvenience caused to our families and our community.
Best,

One Community, One Heart, and One Mission:
For the past couple of days, Engineering students from the 3D printing class have been working together with ECE students from across the hallway. All five aspects of the Profile of a Learner were visible. While exhibiting their active collaborator and effective communicator skills, the 3D printing students began by asking the ECE students what they wanted them to 3D print as a gift for each of them. Then the 3D printing students had to display their problem-solving skills in order to design various items like a train, basketball, keychain, heart, and even a Yoda head in the CAD software. At the of the project, the Engineering students were definitely empowered learners who are engaged citizens. Thank you for Kim Hahn, Debbie Hardin, Donna LaFear, Tonya Bentley, and Rachel Coleman for letting your students come to Engineering class. Every student left with a new friend and a greater appreciation for the power of 3D printing!
