PTO will be selling Candy Grams next week for delivery on Valentine's Day! Forms should have went home, but if your child does not have a form, you can still send them in with money. We will have extra forms at the table. Candy grams can only be purchased at the PTO tables in the hallway during the mornings listed, please do not turn in forms or money to teachers.

Ms. Porter’s reading classes showed skills of an effective communicator and empowered learner. Students chose a side of a debate, shared their thoughts with a group, but BEFORE sharing their own ideas they had to paraphrase what a peer said. Students worked on how to have a positive and fluid conversation while strengthening their knowledge of opinion writing.

Spencer County Community; Due to a significant increase in illness affecting both our students and staff, Spencer County Schools will implement Non-Traditional Instruction (NTI) Days on February 4th and 5th, 2025. TigerCub Village will be CLOSED as well. Students should follow the NTI expectations that have communicated by their teachers and school. Staff will be available during the school day to provide support as needed. We look forward to welcoming everyone back as soon as humanly possible. 4th grade is participating in ReadBowl, a global reading competition. A perk of reading the most minutes for the grade level is reading aloud to another class in our school (who guessed the correct total of minutes read for the week). The first quarter winner was Reuben Moore who read to Mrs Burns’ first grade class.

After consulting with the National Weather Service and considering the potential for hazardous weather conditions, including a Cold Weather Advisory for temperatures in the single digits below zero, and the risk of unsafe conditions in subzero temperatures 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐲 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬 will implement 𝐍𝐓𝐈 𝐃𝐚𝐲 #𝟑 on 𝐖𝐞𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝟐𝟐, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓. Mrs. Whitelys class is working as Accountable Collaborators on composing three digit numbers using base ten blocks.

Mrs. Burns’ 1st graders worked on using comparison symbols to compare 2 digit numbers. They spun for a number, used base ten blocks to represent their number, and the moved the pieces on the mat to create the correct comparison symbol.

𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐲 𝐏𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬 will operate on a 𝐭𝐰𝐨-𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐝 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐞 tomorrow, 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝟏𝟑𝐭𝐡. 𝐓𝐢𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐂𝐮𝐛 𝐕𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐠𝐞 will be 𝐎𝐏𝐄𝐍 on a normal schedule. After assessing bus routes today, we found that while our majority of our roads are in excellent condition, several challenges remain, including low-hanging tree limbs and multiple parked cars in cul-de-sacs and turnarounds. To ensure the safety of our students and drivers, we believe it would be beneficial for drivers to complete their routes after daylight hours. With the expected sunshine tomorrow, we anticipate more melting to occur, further improving turnaround conditions. We kindly ask that, if possible, keep cul-de-sacs clear of cars to help our buses navigate turnarounds safely. Thank you for your understanding! Due to current impact of the winter storm, all Spencer County Schools, Tiger Cub Village, and our Central Office will be closed tomorrow, January 6, 2025. As a reminder, tomorrow was already designated as a District Professional Development Day for staff, so no classes were scheduled for students. We will continue to monitor the storm’s impact, including potential power outages, and will make a decision regarding school for Tuesday, January 7, 2025, as soon as possible.
