Celebrating Our School Media Specialists โ April School Library Month
April is School Library Month, and we are proud to recognize and celebrate the incredible work of our School Media Specialists across Spencer County Schools.
Our school libraries are vibrant centers of learning, creativity, and explorationโand our Media Specialists are at the heart of it all. They inspire a love of reading, guide students in developing research and digital literacy skills, and create welcoming spaces where every student feels encouraged to learn and grow.
From helping a kindergartener discover their very first favorite book to supporting high school students with research and real-world skills, their impact reaches every corner of our district.
We are grateful for the passion, dedication, and care our Media Specialists: Ms. Tracy Shouse, Ms. Laura Gabbard, Ms. Marita Bell, and Ms. Rachel Glass bring to our schools each and every day. Thank you for all you do to support our students, staff, and community!

This morning, while transporting middle school choir students on a field trip, Bus 2072 experienced a blown heater hose that was initially reported as smoke but was later determined to be steam. Out of an abundance of caution, all students were safely evacuated.
The Taylorsville-Spencer County Fire Department responded to the scene along with district officials.
We would like to thank the driver for their quick actions, as well as the students for remaining calm and following instructions during the situation.
All students have safely arrived at their destination.
