ANNUAL SCRIMMAGE!
Saturday, November 23, 2024 9:00 - 3:00 pm
Taylorsville Elementary
Each year we begin our archery season with a "mock tournament" for all of the archers in the school NASP programs in Spencer County. This is an opportunity for all archers, but especially our newest, to get a feel for what competing in a NASP tournament is like. In addition to shaking off some of the nerves related to competition, this event allows some of our more experienced archers to be leaders. They are paired with new archers and help them learn along the way.
Archers from all schools will be shooting throughout the day beginning at 9:00am through 3:00pm with flights starting on the hour. This year's scrimmage will have almost 130 Spencer County archers participating!

Students and staff did an AMAZING job honoring our Veterans at the Taylorsville Elementary Veterans Day program last week! It was a beautiful reminder of the bravery and sacrifices of those who have served our country. A huge thank you to all who helped make this day unforgettable! #ThankYouVeterans #TaylorsvilleElementary

ATC Update: All Spencer County students who were at the ATC have loaded the bus safely and are in route back to Spencer County High School. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

We are aware that Shelby County High School is currently on lockdown. The ATC is also on lockdown, and we have students present at the ATC. We are awaiting further communication from Shelby County Schools and local authorities. We will keep you updated as we receive more information. Thank you.

Courtney has been a total asset to SCMS as a member of our staff and as a aide in our Pax Career Lab. She cares so much about our students and how this real world learning will benefit them in the future. Her ability to interact with students and community partners, will ensure the Pax lab thrives now and in the future.

Micayla Gabrie has made the SCMS Pax Career Lab a huge win for SCMS students. Students learn so many important life skills and get to try out careers to experience what they are like. Without Micayla's constant energy making sure everything in the Lab is centered around student learning and success it would not be nearly as successful. She also just hosted the Kentucky Commissioner of Education and 80 other community members who were able to speak with students about the amazing things they are learning.

Spencer County Schools is writing grants to continue the after school programs at Taylorsville Elementary School (Tigers Beyond the Bell) and Spencer County High School (Bears in Overtime). Your input is requested in order to plan the best programs possible. Thank you for your time and assistance!

Sabrina has stepped into our ECE collab role as a long term substitute. She has hit the ground running and been an amazing support to those students (and teachers!) She has gone above and beyond and we appreciate her so much!

Samantha (Samiy) is our floater Instructional Assistant for the three-year-old half day classrooms. She has been instrumental in welcoming and acclimating our newest learners. She filled in seamlessly while we were in the process of hiring a new IA, as well as supporting both half-day teachers with very challenging students. She does this with tremendous patience, kindness, and a "glad to help" attitude. She is amazing team player, and we are very lucky to have her on our team at the ELC!!

Ashley is a phenomenal teacher, friend, and colleague. When you step into her classroom, you experience the culture that she has built with her students that is based on trust, compassion, high expectations, and the joy of learning. It's easy to see why her students love being in language arts class! Her selflessness and passion for literacy is contagious and makes her an inspiration to me and those lucky enough to work with her. Thank you, Ms. Owens, for being the kind of teacher we all want to have!
